Welcome to the RMIT IEEE Student Chapter (RISC)!

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) was founded in 1884 and is a worldwide technical professional society devoted to advancing the theory and application of electrical engineering, electronics and computing. The IEEE is the world's largest technical professional body with over 330,000 electrical and electronics engineers, scientists and other professionals in approximately 150 countries.

If you've managed to read this far, you're probably wondering about the benefits of becoming and IEEE student member. Student membership costs as little as $US12.50, and for that you get access to the following (and more):

* Awards and Sholarships Up to $US250,000 is awarded to students every year by the IEEE.

* Free Email Alerts What's New @ IEEE for Students and the IEEE Career Alert keep you informed.

* Free Email Alias with Virus Scanning < Yourname>@ieee.org - particularly useful for RMIT students, as a 'workaround' for the S-number email address, this alone should justify the membership fee!

* Student Branches RISC organises regular events such as industrial visits, BBQ's and a student paper presentation competition. Participating in the student branch also provides opportunities to make connections and develop your leadership skills.
