The next RISC event on the calender is the travel sponsorship seminar.

EVENT ABSTRACT

If you are a:

In this talk, Dr Arnan Mitchell will outline his own personal philosophy on conferences, why it is important to present, conference etiquette, what you should be aiming to do at a conference and some strategies to ensure you get the most out of them. Perhaps most importantly, the seminar will also outline a number of strategies for seeking funding for your conference travel, and will be identifying several conference travel grants that you can apply for. In particular, it will be outlining the newly established IEEE Victorian Section student travel grants. Arnan will also briefly talk about preparations for applying for postgraduate research scholarships. This will be dealt with more fully in a dedicated seminar in September 2008, however having already published at a conference can greatly enhance your chances of success.
